whoops, missed a cupboard :-)

Okay, now they're bare.

Also, we've filled out the postal change of address forms. The USPS actually let you
file them online now, for a dollar. Or you can send them in by mail (37 cents) or
leave them with your letter carrier (no charge). Cool.

We received a package today with bunches of keen stuff from Laura. The mix tape
for the road trip looks really good. Can't wait to play it.

Depletion. It's all around me. The refrigerator and cupboards look downright
empty compared to the way they were, say, six months ago. We donated a lot of
the cans left over from Y2K to the local food bank, and are trying to figure out
what to make with the rest.

Wow, it's been a week since the last entry. (Time flies when you're moving boxes
around. :-) ) I've been going through boxes, sending stuff I have no room for to
people who might want it. Tropical depression Fay brought a lot of rain into the
area over the weekend, so I wasn't able to work in the garage for most of Saturday
and Sunday. I'm glad I was thinking ahead Friday afternoon, though --
managed to bring about six boxes into the house before the wet stuff came
pouring down. I've gone through five so far. Found the fountain pens I brought
from California, as well as some more story notes and ideas. C. suggested
I set aside a box for those, so they're easier to find when we arrive at the new place.
I've already done that :-)

We also finally have a Bay Area phone number! It'll be active as of this evening
Pacific time, so I can finally do those online job applications that screen
based on your phone number.

Excerpt from the moving notebook:
Survival pack for when we arrive (and before the movers get there):

water
clothes (warm-weather and cool-weather)
towels
pillows
blankets
bedding
toiletries
flashlight
batteries
garbage bags
telephone + phone cord
quarters
laundry detergent + fabric softener
munchies
garbage bags

And, of course:
laptops
WinTV-USB (we're leaving the TV behind, so we'll be using the laptop LCD's before we get a new one)
DVDs
mix CDs
